Ministry Team

Our ministry team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Pastor Billy Pate, Senior Pastor

Pastor Billy Pate has served at The River Assembly of God since November 1, 2009. He and his wife, April have three children, Gabe, Zoe, and Zane.

Pastor Pate has earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Leadership with an emphasis in Pastoral Ministries from Ecclesia College in Springdale, Arkansas. He recently completed the Coaching Core for Church Life through Church Life Resources and North Texas District of the Assemblies of God. Pastor Pate is currently enrolled in the Consultant Core for Church Life, working toward a Master’s Degree in Christian Leadership through Valley Forge Christian College.

With a heart to reach the community of Burkburnett and the surrounding region with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he works diligently to equip the church with the necessary tools to facilitate the Great Commission. His passion for the saved and unsaved alike is the driving force for his life’s work.

April Pate, Director of Administration

April and Pastor serve together as Senior Pastors at The River.  They have been happily married for 18 years and have been blessed with 3 beautiful children.

April serves the congregation of The River in a variety of capacities, both administrative and ministerial duties.  April earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a double major in both Management and Human Resource Management.

Over the years, April has served in various non-profit, community organizations, such as The Pregnancy Help Center, as a volunteer counselor and later as a board member. April worked with ladies from all walks of life who were many times facing an untimely pregnancy.   In addition, she worked with the children of White County Arkansas via the Junior Auxiliary, serving on a multitude of committees, Co-Chairing the Child-Lures Committee, while also holding the position as Board Secretary.  During her tenure with JA, April was also PTO President at Sidney Deener Elementary School for 3 consecutive years.

April is very community minded; she believes in the value of people and the importance of relationships.  Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28 it reads “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”  It is this truth that God desires to use every circumstance of life for our good that April anchors her faith in.  No matter what surprise life throws our way, if we allow Him to, God will work it for our GOOD!
